A taxpayer may file a petition with the Value Adjustment Board for the following reasons:

The taxpayer objects to the Property Appraiser's value assessment of the taxpayer's real or personal property.

The taxpayer's application for any of the following exemptions or special use classifications is denied:

homestead exemption
-
any other tax exemption as provided by Chapter 196, Florida Statutes or
-
any special use classification as provided by Chapter 193, Florida Statutes.

Late filed petitions with the $15 filing fee received after the deadline (to be determined) will not be scheduled for a hearing. The petition must be accompanied by a written explanation showing good cause or extraordinary circumstances for the delay in filing, and that petition will be submitted for a good cause review.
NOTE: MULTIPLE OR CONTIGUOUS PARCELS PETITIONS MUST BE FILED IN THE VALUE ADJUSTMENT BOARD OFFICE.

Select in the box above "File a New Petition" to begin the online filing process. There is a $15.00 filing fee for all petitions, plus a convenience fee for filing online (see below for fees). Credit card payments are accepted online only.

PETITIONS FILED IN PERSON OR BY MAIL:
Check or money orders should be payable to the Clerk of the Value Adjustment Board, and delivered or mailed to the Clerk of VAB, County Administration Building, A2-801, 1801 27th Street, Vero Beach, Fl 32960. A petition will not be considered filed until the fee is received.
