A taxpayer may file a petition with the Value Adjustment Board for the following reasons:
- The taxpayer objects to the Property Appraiser's value assessment of the taxpayer's
real or personal property.
- The taxpayer's application for any of the following exemptions or special use classifications
is denied:
- homestead exemption
- any other tax exemption as provided by
Chapter 196, Florida Statutes or
- any special use classification as provided by
Chapter 193, Florida Statutes.

The VAB will accept late filed petitions after the deadline of September 14th provided the petition is accompanied by a written explanation of the good cause or extraordinary circumstances for the delay in filing. Proceed following the instructions below.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR FILING A PETITION ON LINE:
Select File a New Petition above to begin the online filing process. Complete the appropriate online petition. and click submit. You will be prompted to select a payment method. We accept Mastercard, Visa, American Express or Discover credit card payments online only. The Online filing fee by credit card is $15.00 per petition. plus a convenience fee:

If you select payment by check, send your check or money order payable to the Indian River Value Adjustment Board, to Value Adjustment Board, County Administration Building, 1801 27th Street, Vero Beach, Fl 32960. A petition will not be considered filed until the fee is received.
You are required to submit a valid e-mail address in order to electronically submit a petition. Once you have submitted your petition you will be provided with a transaction number and password. Once you have your transaction number and password you may access this site at anytime to track the status of your petition.

Petition forms and information can be downloaded from the Clerk of the Court website at www.clerk.indian-river.org., click on Clerk to the Board or from http://dor.myflorida.com/dor/property. Petitions can be mailed or delivered with the appropriate filing fee to the Indian River County Clerk of the Value Adjustment Board, County Administration Bldg.
